A slice of Rock n' Roll History

Posted 28 Jun 2010

A couple of Delete's good friends (Bertie & Simon) pointed out  today that our door step had a place in rock n'roll history.

Our new home features on the cover of 'David Bowie - The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' - nice.

Obviously we are out to make as big an impact on popular culture as Mr. Stardust - so moving in to his neighbourhood should certainly help.

Be sure to drop in and see us at 'ground control'.

Vegetarians look away

Posted 28 May 2010

If you're all about style over substance then this won't be for you, but if like us - you like to get down and dirty occasionally then we thoroughly recommend visiting this little East London gem located just off of Kingsland Road in Dalston. Mangal Okabassi does meat and does it well. It won't cost you much and you can bring your own beer. Perfect.  Timeout recently gave it a 5 star rating too. Go and get stuck in.

As you can see from the gallery above all that remained at the end of the night were plates of bones and a big bowl of uneaten salad.

New Delete T-Shirt Store

Posted 28 Apr 2010

Here at Delete we define the first official day of summer as the first day over 20 degrees (that and when Tom dons his flip flops for the first time).

So in celebration of the approaching 'warmer' months and that we've all just survived the coldest winter in a long time - we are launching our new T-Shirt Store.

Whether it's for the festival circuit, the luau you have planned, or just hanging about down the park, a Delete T-shirt makes the ideal cladding for the top 'arf.  Nice

Check out the new T-Shirt store for the latest Delete T-Shirts and keep your eyes peeled as we plan to release new designs through the summer.

Decode: Digital Design Sensations

Posted 18 Feb 2010

Code and raw data wouldn't normally appeal to traditional exhibition goers but this is Digital Art at its most breathtaking.

The raw material whether from social media, a day's worth of flight routes or human movement and sound is programmed using a mixture of Processing and other open source technologies which are constantly evolving through interaction.

Featuring Weave Mirror by Daniel Rozin, Joshua Davis' Hype Framework and Karsten Schmidt who created Social Collider - rewritten in Java to interact with Nintendo Wii remotes, visualising connections between Twitter data steams and there propagation.

The works attempt to disillusion the overwhelming amount of information that exists in Digital by showcasing data through abstract art, visualisations and interactivity.

Highly recommended, open until 11 April, 2010

Discovering Dieter Rams

Posted 17 Feb 2010

Perhaps you have not heard the name Dieter Rams before. You will however undoubtedly have heard of Braun and probably seen most of the German product designer' creations. He is hailed by many as one of the most influential product designers of the late 20th century and this is what sparked me to shoot across the river to the Design Museum on South bank to explore.

I think what attracts me to Dieter Rams' designs is the notion of clutter-free-ness. If something doesn't need to be there, it isn't.

Or in Dieter's own words — "Less, but better".

I found myself staring at electric razors for an hour, smiling widely as I recognized two models that I used to play with as a little boy and pretend they were spaceships. Much of Rams' work have become timeless classics and helped define the concept of "good design", so I suggest you go and check out the exhibition at the Design Museum to see it all for yourself! It's open until 9th of March.

Delete Studio Playlist 2009

Posted 22 Dec 2009

No this is not yet another music blog about RAGE versus Joe. This is much more important than that. Here's what we've been listening to throughout 2009 on our ever reliable 1980's ghetto blaster. They really don't make things like they used to!

We toyed with the idea of compiling our playlist of the noughties, but we're a bit tired of all that to be honest - so we're keeping it real with our traditional yearly playlist compilation. As usual we've played everything from Indie to minimal techno, to pop, to reggae, to obscure jazz and even some classical thanks to our good friends over at Decca. We're sure there's been the odd sprinkle of Swedish rock filtering out too - at least we think that's what it was.

Enjoy.
